The GV60 is a high-performance electric vehicle with a sleek and athletic coupe crossover utility vehicle (CUV) with a unique design that expands the Genesis lineup into the all-electric luxury space.
The new 2023 GV60 comes with innovative technologies, such as the illuminated Crystal Sphere and Face Connect, to enable new ways for drivers to interact with the vehicle.
When you drive a GV60 you feel you are driving a car from a new era, it is futuristic but very organic at the same time using premium natural material and a powerful all-electric dual engine.
Genesis cars have great performance and technology specifications and the electric GV60 is not an exception to the high-end quality of Genesis. The exterior and interior of the GV60 look similar to a Tesla but with the luxury and premium signature of Genesis.
The GV60 debuted online at a digital world premier event online back in September 2021, live from Seoul Korea. It is still a very new car and is not available for purchase everywhere due to its limited production.
Car buyers who know the high quality of Genesis have been waiting for the GV60-first-electric CUV for a while, this car is something special for Genesis fans as the first EV in the lineup.
As Genesis keeps growing and becoming more popular in the US, their lineup keeps extending with this model, the GV60, the sixth Genesis model, and the first all-electric Genesis, now followed by new EV versions of the Genesis Electrified G80 luxury sedan and the Genesis Electrified GV70 SUV.
2023 GV 60 Trims and Pricing
Genesis made it simple to buy a 2023 Genesis GV60, there are only two trim models available. The advanced trim model and the performance trim model, are both available only as AWD.
Any of the two trim models looks great. The GV60’s athletic coupe design emphasizes a high-performance EV aesthetic Athletic design that is very attractive and unique.
- 2023 Genesis GV 60 Advanced AWD $59,290
- 2023 Genesis GV 60 Performance AWD $68,290
The Advanced trim model GV60 has a 248 Mile Range and a powerful 314 Horsepower.
The trim model Performance GV60 increases the range to 235 Miles Range and has a strong 429 HorsePower engine. This is a very powerful strong and fast car. As I test drive the GV 60 Performance on the highway the only limit to acceleration is the speed limit. This will be a great car to test drive at fast speeds on the Daytona Speedway Race track with no speed limit.
The basic trim model that is not so basic, the Advanced AWD includes a Navigation System with 12.3 Center Screen and a Dual AWD motor.
The top trim model, Performance, includes an Electronically Controlled Suspension and Highway Driving Assist.
At this time in Spring 2023, the GV60 is only going to be sold at select Genesis retailers in AZ, CA, CO, CT, GA, IL, IN, LA, MA, MD, MN, NC, NJ, NV, NY, PA, SC, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI because of its limited availability. Floridians like me will have to wait to see the GV60 on our land until further production.
Performance
With 429 horsepower the GV60 is not only one of the most efficient Genesis cars ever but it’s also the fastest genesis. Each GV60 features a 77.4kWh battery.
The GV60 is Genesis’ first vehicle to be built on the dedicated EV platform known as the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), marking the brand’s move towards electrification.
Genesis’ first electric car is based on the dedicated EV platform, E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform), marking Genesis’s first step towards electrification.
The standard AWD model is equipped with a 160kW motor for its rear wheels and a 74kW motor for its front wheels.
The performance model features two 160kW motors for the front and rear wheels, delivering a total output of 320kW.
The GV60 comes with a Boost Mode to give it a more dynamic and luxurious element. The mode immediately increases the performance of the vehicle’s maximum output, making the driving experience more dynamic.
For drivers who are looking for more performance, the GV60 also features a Drift Mode. It provides athletic driving by optimizing the distribution of driving power and braking system.
The GV60 Electronic-Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) enables an optimal amount of torque to be distributed to the wheels when turning around at high speeds, improving performance when cornering and starting off. This offers drivers more stable control on slippery roads and in snowy or rainy weather.
The GV60 also features the Preview Electronic Control Suspension (Preview ECS), which uses information gathered from the front camera and navigation system to recognize situations that could have an impact on the vehicle, such as speed bumps, in advance. It also controls the damping force of the suspension according to the surface of the road to offer passengers optimal comfort.
The GV60 feels great on the road due to its MacPherson multi-link suspension system for the front wheels, a five-multi-link suspension system for the rear wheels, and R-MDPS (Rack-mounted, motor-driven power steering) that produces good performance with very good handling, comfort, and stability.
A great feature is that the advanced AWD model’s Disconnector Actuator System (DAS) separates or connects the motor and the drive shaft according to driving conditions. This allows drivers to freely switch between RWD and AWD, minimizing power loss and ensuring efficient driving.
The GV60 is the first model to feature a battery conditioning function that manages the battery’s temperature to ensure optimal conditions.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of the GV60 is very modern and elegant with lots of curves, it highlights its high-performance image and smooth exterior design of this sporty and electric elegant crossover coupe. Genesis created a signature design with the sleek silhouette drivers would expect from the luxury brand.
The GV60 has a smooth, dynamic profile of a high-performance coupe. A simple but sharp silhouette that runs from the front hood to the rear spoiler completes a more progressive character. The front of the GV60 features a unique and original design with several quadruple lamps in two lines adding character to the refined and voluminous body.
The especially designed, wider, more athletic Crest grille has been positioned below the quad headlamps to emphasize the performance of the GV60, but it also helps increase the cooling efficiency of the high-voltage batteries in the underbody.
“The GV60 is a symbolic model that materializes the unique values and the sensibilities that Genesis stands for. It offers a satisfying experience to our customers who want something valuable, but different,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis brand.
The GV60 features the same unique Guilloché pattern often seen on luxury watches, representing the top of Genesis’s analog sensibilities with high-tech innovations.
The GV60 includes the first time “clamshell hood”, a single panel combining hood and fenders, creating a sleek impression for the EV model by eliminating the lines between parts.
The chrome line that flows from the windshield to the top of the Daytime Opening (DLO) extends to a C-pillar garnish design that embodies the image of “electric”.
The power door handle of the GV60 has a very futuristic image by automatically appearing, coming out, as you approach the car.
The rear two-line combination taillights take on a dynamic shape and flow seamlessly with the voluminous three-dimensional bodywork. The rear features a fixed rear wing to accentuate a coupe-shaped roof, adding to the dynamic high-performance image.
Shoulder volume is emphasized at the rear fender to create a low, wide profile and further accentuate the high-performance image combined with technical features such as various sensors and taillights.
Interior Design
The interior design of the GV60 adopts the Genesis design ethos of “Beauty of White Space”. It is spacious and comfortable with a very balanced size for a CUV.
The interior is very elegant with floating architecture and unique details. The GV60’s interior Crystal Sphere is a sphere-shaped Shift By Wire (SBW) that intuitively informs drivers when the GV60 is ready for a drive. The dial spins and the SBW appear, creating an interior atmosphere of futuristic mobility.
The Crystal Sphere is one of the most attractive design elements of the GV60. When the vehicle is off, the Crystal Sphere provides ambient lighting, producing a very psychedelic and sensuous interior experience.
The new 2023 GV60 I am test driving is equipped with innovative technologies, providing a unique electric vehicle experience.
New Technology like Face Connect, Fingerprint Authentication System, Over-the-Air (OTA) Software Update, and Digital Key, make this Genesis very luxurious and easy to control.
The floating console, where the glass sphere sits produces a floating-in-the-air feel in contrast with the slim cockpit and flat floor producing a beautiful interior design. The circular details of the glass sphere, horn cover, door handles, and side mirror drivers enhance the stylish ambiance inside the GV60.
New Infotainment
The dashboard of the GV60 is designed with the goal to produce a high-tech atmosphere with a widescreen integrated gauge (cclC, Connected Cockpit Integrated Car) connecting with the instrument cluster and AVNT (audio, video, navigation, telecommunications).
The GV60 offers customers a smarter cutting-edge infotainment system and various connected car services designed specifically for electric vehicles.
The GV60 is the first Genesis model to include the next-generation infotainment system, ccIC (connected car Integrated Cockpit), which links clusters and navigation into a panoramic display while seamlessly connecting content throughout clusters, navigation, and HUD. The interior is beautifully enhanced by this infotainment.
Genesis GV60 Performance All-Electric SUV Coupe is definitely a High-Performance EV with 429 Horsepower and tons of Luxury and modern technology.
